Lead Protection & Control Engineer

VIQU have partnered with a well-established systems integrator delivering critical Protection & Control solutions across the UK Transmission and Distribution network. Operating in highly regulated environments, this organisation is known for its technical depth, long-term client relationships, and involvement in nationally significant energy projects.

This is a senior technical role where you'll take ownership of Protection & Control designs, acting as the technical authority across projects while working closely with clients, project managers, and delivery teams.

The role

• Technical lead for Protection & Control systems across UK T&D projects

• Design authority, ensuring compliance with client, regulatory, and industry standards

• Development of SLDs, KLDs, system architecture and concept-level designs

• Producing and reviewing schematics, layouts, calculations, and design documentation

• Chairing design reviews and technical workshops

• Supporting tendering, delivery, change control, and risk management

• Site visits and technical input during implementation when required

What we're looking for

• Strong experience in Protection & Control within UK Transmission & Distribution

• Solid knowledge of IEC 61850 and substation communication protocols

• Experience working with leading P&C vendors

• Understanding of cyber security considerations in P&C system design

• Confident technical leader with strong stakeholder communication skills

• Engineering degree (or equivalent experience)

• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
